Wombat

The book is still coming together, most of it now handed off for mass production. Well... production. Here's a strip from somewhere in the middle of the strip's lifespan, perhaps notable not only for its searing timelessness, but also for its execution - evidence of my first fumbly forays into inking with a brush. Much honing, much crafting would ensue until I could no longer ink with anything else.

This will mark the indefinite retirement of the Picture of the Week here at Chowderhead Bazoo - at least on a regular basis, some sporadic postings will undoubtedly appear. More like a hiatus, really. An animation gig will be gnawing up much of my time and I'll be doing enough drawing that I know my own personal scrawlings will be taking a backseat for awhile. Hopefully, when I'm back to full free-wheelin' beatnik mode, my urge to assign myself POTW duties will be fully restored.

More Sneak Peeking

Another book on the way, illustrated by yours truly - the collected caring, giving wisdom of the Uptight Seattleite. An invaluable self-wellness book sure to change your life, this guide finds the ever forward-thinking Uptight moving from the pages of the Seattle Weekly to the big time fancy-pants world of Penguin books.

Now available for pre-order, the book should be hitting the shelves in Spring, right around the same time as Wombat, as luck would have it. In the meantime, but not quite yet, I'll be posting some of the artwork found within, perhaps along with some amusing anecdotes from this very special creative journey.

Anvil Press will be releasing the book in early Spring and it's pretty much all in the can at this point save for a few doo-dads I'm trying to shape together. The format will be a little larger than the Dry Shave collection and also looks to weigh in at around 145 fun-filled pages.

There are already plans afoot for a launch party complete with crazy music, but obviously that's well down the road. I'm also trying to beef up my merchandise presence here on Bazoo and will update everything to include the book, particularly if I can get the Straight in on a little promo action and Anvil is hip to that whole pre-order scene.
