Sea Monkey Madness
If you look closely at the second image here you can see that down in that box office window is my Sea Monkey design from a while back.
This is all quite odd, because the folks at Sea Monkey Industries never contacted me or offered me money or credit or anything. But - and I imagine it's a big but - I was probably technically infringing on their trademark to start with, so I don't know. Does the right to satire or parody extend far enough that you should get paid when they turn the tables on you and actually use it commercially? It's not like I'm steaming over it and frankly, it looks like a freakin' blast!

More strange goings-on involving Tintin...
I'm not the biggest fan of the reworking of classic old iconic characters and making them all dark and weird and tres moderne - the whole idea of it tends to conjure up asshole buzzwords like "re-imagining" or the truly awful "reboot" - but hey, it's Charles Burns, let's cut him some slacks.
With his latest comic, X'ed Out, Burns apparently riffs on Herge's Tintin in some kind of crazy mixed up fashion, throwing in a little William S. Burroughs while he's at it, and even going so far as to call the character Nitnit. Hmmm. While it all sounds kind of unsavoury, I have to admit that I'm intrigued. I'll be getting my hands on it next week and back here to review the hell out of it.
