I actually have an original of this postcard, unknowingly inherited from my grandfather, found at the bottom of a box beneath some ancient match books, a pair of cufflinks, a pocketknife, a watch chain, a business card for a magician, and other sundry gentlemanly bric-a-brac. On the back - "Greetings From Dutton, Ontario" and underneath, "A Saucy Cutie Waits for You." There's no credit for Page, but there is a tiny "Photo by Bunny Yeager" line.
Is there any possible way my grandfather could have imagined that this then anonymous bit of crumpet would go on to become an enduring pop-cult icon, the subject of biography and film, and on top of everything else, a "you couldn't make this up" mystery - all with a mostly happy ending?
Surely the postcard is now worth at least a million dollars. At least. I promise I won't change.
